  • "Poll workers are on the frontline of democracy; without them voting does not happen." The Santa Barbara County Registrar of Voters office is looking for volunteers to serve as poll workers for the June 5 Primary Election. Community participation is key to staffing the nearly 170 precinct boards for the election. Large employers in the county can show support by allowing and encouraging their employees to participate. Poll workers receive a stipend for Election Day and to attend training.   • COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS BUDGET WORKSHOPS APRIL 16-20 - Public Invited to Attend and Follow Online or Via CSBTV 20. These public hearings convene at 9 a.m. in the County Administration Building, Fourth Floor Hearing Room, 105 East Anapamu St. Remote testimony and public comment is available at the Joseph Centeno Betteravia Government Administration Building at 511 East Lakeside Parkway, Santa Maria.   • Earth Day Inspires Video Installation To Shine a Light on Local Water Supplies - In honor of Earth Day on Sunday, April 22, divisions of the County's Community Services and Public Works departments collaborated on a public visual art installation to raise awareness and encourage sustainable practices that conserve and protect our aquatic ecosystems and local water supply. On the evenings of April 13 and 14, starting shortly after dusk, "Entangled Waters" is a video installation that will be presented in the archway of the Santa Barbara County Courthouse. Helmed by a collaborative team of local artists, the project aims to heighten public awareness of how each citizen is responsible for the health of Santa Barbara's many watersheds and ecosystems.
